Thunder is booming outside of Super Cool Pets headquarters. Most of us are familiar with the Thundershirt for Dogs
, but did you know there is a Thundershirt for Cats
? If you can get it on your kitty (!), it is easy to create the snug, comfortable fit essential to treat anxiety.
Not sure they are as sensitive to thunder as some of our dogs, but this Thundershirt
is effective for calming them during vet visits, groomers, when traveling, or with general anxiety problems. Made of a durable fabric that resists collecting fur.

We are always looking for unique items to add interest to our home. This vintage framed Collage Cat
is handmade by interior designer Denise Fiedler in San Francisco.
She carves shapes from the yellowing pages of old books and newspapers, then assembles the cutouts to illustrate the distinct personality of a playful kitten. Great gift!

Dogs express their love and affection very openly through tail-wagging, nuzzling, pawing and kisses. Cats are a lot more subtle, no surprise there.
Here are some common signs of cat affection from Decoding How Cats Show Affection | Petside:
- Eye blinks: When a cat meets a stranger for the first time, they give them an unblinking stare. They are wary. Cats that feel trust and affection for a human often blink at them.
- Grooming: When your cat allows you to groom him, this is another sure sign that he trusts you and feels cat affection for you.
- Head rubbing: When a cat rubs her face on a human, she is using scent glands on her cheeks to mark her territory. this can both mean affection, and that she is claiming the human in question as her "property."
- Belly display: This sign of cat affection is one of the most profound acts of trust a cat can bestow on a human.
- Kneading: A cat kneading against your body is an act of sheer contentment, trust and true adoration

If you have an elderly pet, you may have heard you should cut back on the protein. But feeding him or her more protein may be a good thing, according to Geriatric Pets Need More Protein:
It is commonly believed that feeding geriatric dogs and cats normal or high amounts of protein can cause kidney disease or make existing kidney disease worse. Food manufacturers prey on this belief by offering lower protein foods for geriatric dogs and cats, when in actuality, geriatric pets benefit from higher protein diets.
In fact, the prolonged feeding of special veterinary kidney diets to pets without clinical signs of kidney disease can actually cause unnecessary muscle loss, a compromised immune system, and osteoporosis.
So we are going to check out High Protein Dog Food
and High Protein Cat Food
. As always, this is not a medical blog, so for more info please confer with your vet and read Geriatric Pets Need More Protein.
