Pet Proof Your House -- Glues Can Be Hazardous

glues.jpg

Some types of everyday household glues, such as Gorilla Glue, can be hazardous to the health of our pets and expensive to treat if the container is accidentally punctured by a pet and ingested.

According to Pet Proofing Your House: Part 2 | petMD, swallowed glue expands quickly in the stomach and requires surgical removal. Just one ounce of glue may expand to the size of a basketball. Keep any glue out of reach from your pets and babies.

Dog Maze Food Bowl

dogmazefoodbowl.jpg

Speaking of bloat, as we were the other day, a major contributing factor is the tendency of the dog to "wolf" down their food. This Dog Maze Food Bowl should slow them down a bit. Just wind their food around the tracks at mealtime and let them solve the puzzle on their own. Comes with a non-skid base and is available in three colors:

DIY Elevated Dog Feeding Station from an Ikea Lack Table

Perhaps your dog is underfoot during meal-time, pushing his/her food bowl around the room and and slopping food and water on the floor around the bowl. This hack can solve that problem.

lacktable2.jpg

Take a cheap $8 IKEA Lack Side Table to house your dog's food and water bowls and make sure they stay in one place. Measure the cuts in the top for your bowls, then use a Dremel to cut the holes so that the bowls can be easily placed in and out of the table.

lacktable.jpg

One caveat to keep in mind--raised food bowls may contribute to the serious condition of bloat, or gastric dilation.
