Frobo Cooling Pet Bowl Provides Constant Cool Clean water

frobo.jpg

A happy and healthy pet drinks plenty of fresh clean water. It is sad to see the stale, warm, bacteria-laden water that pets must drink in pet stores. If they drink it at all, filthy water can actually make them sick.

The FroBo Cooling Pet Bowl provides your pet with a constant reservoir of cool, clean water. The FroBo keeps your pets' water cold and fresh for eight hours or longer. Its non-toxic gel core freezes in two hours and lasts longer than ice.

The bowl is compact and chew-resistant with a slide-proof base. Supplemental FroBo bowls are available so pet owners can have a frozen bowl on-hand at all times. Something to definitely have on hand this summer.

Doggles PentaPulls Squirrel Dog Toy

squirreldogtoy.jpg

In our house, probably the most exciting thing you can say is "squirrel". Or more accurately, "SQUIRREL!!!" Due to the seed on the ground from the bird feeders in the back yard, we have plenty of them around for fun chasing.

This Doggles Squirrel PentaPulls Dog Toy is a tough tug toy with squeakers in its legs and tail to provide some entertainment once the real squirrels have run away.

Pet Food with Natural Ingredients -- Purina ONE® beyOnd™

PurinaOneBeyondMain.gif

Purina ONE® beyOnd™ is an adult dog food that claims to "offer positively good, healthy pet food with no corn or wheat." Dogs are natural carnivores. They will eat almost anything (omnivores), but they want to eat meat and thrive on the high protein. Trouble is, meat is expensive, and apparently most consumers won't pay a lot to feed their dog meat.

PurinaOneBeyond.JPG

Many expensive commercial dry dog foods are grain-based, and often corn-based--in other words, high in carbs, not protein. Despite their health claims for dogs, the ingredients in the Purina ONE® beyOnd™ Chicken & Oat still include a lot of grains and vegetables, sounding more appropriate for the human diet than for dogs, but of course, we humans are the ones buying.

Chicken, chicken meal , whole oat meal, whole barley, soybean meal, whole brown rice, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), dried beet pulp, dried egg product, natural flavor, fish oil, caramel color, salt, dried carrots, dried tomatoes, dried apples, calcium phosphate, potassium chloride, choline chloride, zinc sulfate, Vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, niacin, calcium carbonate, Vitamin A supplement, calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, copper sulfate, riboflavin supplement, Vitamin B-12 supplement, garlic oil, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, Vitamin D-3 supplement, calcium iodate, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), sodium selenite.

Pet Scoop -- Pet Parents Choose Upscale Pet Foods

gourmetpetfood.jpg

Now that our pets are more members of the family than mere possessions, many pet parents aren't just settling for any old pet food. Pet Foods Go Gourmet | NYTimes.com reports that the giant pet-food companies like Nestlé Purina Pet Care have added luxury lines. The thinking is that these companies are capitalizing on the notorious pet-food recall of 2007, when contaminated gluten and rice protein from China caused fatal kidney failure in thousands of cats and dogs around the world.

Overnight, thousands of concerned pet owners shifted their allegiance to small companies with a brand identity built on using pure ingredients, often marketed as "human grade" and manufactured in plants that also produce canned food for humans. In some cases ingredients are packed by hand, with chunks and shreds layered for maximum eye appeal.

Purina controls about a third of the pet-food market, but boutique companies such as Fromm, Evanger's, Merrick, Blue Buffalo have made steady gains the past few years.

PetScoop -- Pet Airways Purportedly in Trouble

petairlines.jpg

Pet Airways, the pet air transport service which once held so much promise, is having financial difficulties. The airline is reportedly still taking reservations, but no longer offering flights. Since their service began, Pet Airways claims to have flown more than 7,000 cats and dogs, and one potbellied pig. The NY Times has the story.

Now, Pet Airways has fallen on tough times. The carrier -- which based on its recent schedule typically offers two eastbound routes a month and two westbound ones -- did not have any flights between Dec. 16 and Jan. 16, according to a regulatory filing, and it is unclear if it has had any flights since then. A New York Times reporter looking into the airline had reservations canceled twice, once in January and another last week. Her credit card company canceled the charge.

Kinderkitchen Dog Knife with Teeth for Kids in the Kitchen

dogknife.jpg

It's fun for children to help out in the kitchen, and both sexes need to learn cooking skills these days. However, they can seriously hurt themselves using some of the utensils.

The Kinderkitchen Dog Knife has serrated "teeth" sharp enough to cut sandwiches and fruit peels, but not little fingers. It's safe and easy for children to use. The ears are designed to serve as a hand guard, and the tail is made of soft plastic. Dishwasher-safe.
