Supercollar -- Dog Collar and Leash in One

Wouldn't it be great to walk your dog off leash, without worrying about safety and leash laws? Actually, some dogs are pretty good about sticking around (those who obsess about the treats you keep handing out), but for those who must have access to a leash, here's a way.
The Supercollar
is a "hybrid" to use in place of your separate collar and leash. It has a built-in retractable leash that enables you to gain immediate control of your dog, without having to take the time to attach a leash or harness.

When you need to control your dog, simply release a tab on the collar and pull out the retractable 36-inch leash. And, if you you don't want to give up using your long, hand-held retractable leash sometimes, you still can. The supercollar includes a "D" ring for attachment. This collar is strong, durable, and waterproof with 3M Scotchlite reflective accents to keep you and your pet visible in the dark.
Supercollar in Medium (13"-17")
and Large (16"-22")
for dogs weighing between 20 and 90 lbs.

How to Find Appropriate Toys for Your Particular Cat

Do your kitty cat's toys
lie around the house abandoned and neglected? If so, it may be that your cat just has the wrong toys.
To solve this common problem, the helpful cat lovers at Yahoo Shine suggest performing a toy test. Try offering different types of toys to see what he/she likes or dislikes. Some recommended questions to ask yourself:
- Does your cat prefer toys that have a soft mouth feel?
- Does your cat prefer "air hunting" with toys that allow her to leap?
- Does your cat seem intimidated by toys that make noise?
- Do cloth-type toys annoy her because they get stuck in her claws or does she like that she can grasp them so easily?
- Does your cat react more quickly to the life-like feathers on a particular toy?
- Does she prefer toys with longer wands that keep you at more of a distance?
- Are smaller toys preferred over larger ones?
- Does the sound a particular toy makes as it moves on the floor trigger your cat's interest more than others?

Relieve Pet Thunderstorm Anxiety this Summer

Many pets live in areas that experience strong summer storms along with the steamy summer weather. And next thing you know, your pet has slinked away to a dark closet, under the bed or table, panting heavily and trembling. Pet reactions range from mild to phobic and can definitely keep the household awake in the early morning hours.
Our hearts go out to our panicked pets -- what to do? There are many approaches to anxiety relief
and effectiveness generally depends upon your individual pet.
Here at Super Cool Pets we have never bought into the advice that comforting a frightened pet actually intensifies their phobia. Glad to see that the well-respected, kindly dog trainer, veterinarian and author
Patricia McConnell agrees in her excellent article on the subject over at The Bark:
On the contrary, it's just not possible that petting your dog is going to make her more fearful the next time there's a storm. Warnings that you'll ruin your dog by comforting her are reminiscent of the advice from the 1930s and '40s to avoid comforting frightened children by picking them up. That perspective was tossed out long ago by psychologists, when research made it clear that having parents they can count on when life gets scary creates bold, stable children, not dependent or fearful ones.
She suggests "classical counter-conditioning (CCC). CCC can be a profoundly effective way to change behavior, because it changes the emotions that drive the behavior in the first place. A typical example in applied animal behavior is having visitors throw treats to a dog who is afraid of strangers."

Back Yard Bird Feeder Bird Seed Hoop

One of our dogs' more enjoyable pastimes is snacking on the seed the wild birds have spilled onto the ground from their feeders. For many backyard birders, this scattering is a waste of seed, plus which it does damage the grass and attracts rodents.
To solve that problem, attach this lightweight mesh Seed Hoop
to almost any bird feeder and catch virtually all that seed your birds spill.
The Hoop is available in two sizes--a 30" diameter and a smaller 16" diameter and folds to 1/3 its full size for easy storage and shipping.

Paw Clean Canine Footbath -- Eliminate Dirty Pawprints on Your Floors

Here at Super Cool Pets headquarters we keep towels by our doorways to wipe off muddy paws, but our pets still leave footprints all over the floors and carpets. Since we wash our own dirty hands with water, we are thinking that would be more effective on dirty paws.

From now on we can leave a couple of Paw Clean Canine Footbaths
by the doors. Each has a 30 oz reservoir to fill with warm water and a self-sealing neoprene opening.
Swish your pet's paw around in the water, and as you slide each leg out, the neoprene seal acts as a squeegee to shed the excess water and dirt. The Footbath comes with ultra-absorbent microfiber towel for a final dry off.

Dutch Boy Refresh Paint Helps Eliminate Pet Odors

Pet smells can permeate a home just like cigarette smoke and food odors. Realtors will tell you that a home with strong pet smells is a harder sell and may actually garner a lower offer. Your company may notice, but generally won't comment.
One way to improve on this situation, next time you paint your home interior use Dutch Boy Refresh, an odor-eliminating paint that provides a mildew-resistant coating.
How does this work? Dutch Boy Refresh makes use of Arm & Hammer Odor Eliminating Technology and zero VOC. Volatile organic compounds (VOC) are vapors that are released from paint as it dries and are thought to contribute to smog and ozone. The gallon and quart containers are recyclable.
